Princess Ida (or, Castle Adamant)
A comic operetta by the celebrated team of Sir Arthur Sullivan (music) and W. S. Gilbert (libretto).
Princess Ida, despite having been married in infancy to Prince Hilarion, has founded a women's university from which all men are barred. Prince Hilarion decides to seek her out and infiltrates the university, together with two friends, with the aim of collecting his bride. They disguise themselves as women students but are discovered. Ultimately, the men, led by Hilarion's father, King Hildebrand, stage a full-scale invasion. Soon, there is a literal war between the sexes.
